Jay 2010 Inspiration

For Fall 2010 JAY GODFREY was inspired by the photos of Ellen Von Unwerth and Jeanloup Sieff.
The black and white images are beautifully sexy in their celebration of the female form.

The striking images inspired laced-up and corseted seams, mesh panels and a few darkly dangerous designs geared towards the fun and freedom of our contemporary lifestyle. This mood translates to clothes that are clean and modern with cutouts, low backs, feminine ruffles and touches of ostrich feathers strategically placed to evoke a certain sauciness and sensuality. There is an obvious contrast between shape and fabrication: evening fabrics such as silks and jacquards are cut in casual easy shapes, whereas sporty daytime fabrics like t-shirt and sweatshirt jersey are draped in provocative and unexpected ways that challenge our preconceived notions about what is casual and dressy.

Another Tease :)

Nicole Q&A

Recently Nicole sat down with Revolve Clothing and myself- take a peak.

REVOLVE Clothing: I noticed lots of peacocks, equestrian references, and some cool wax coatings, what was your inspiration for this collection?
Nicole Richie: There's a movie called "From Hell" Starring Johnny Depp that inspired me among other things. That time period is fascinating.

RC: Do you have a particular piece that is your favorite, or one you find most striking?
NR: The peacock cuff.

RC: How do you think your design style has changed from your first season?
NR: I wouldn't say it's changed. I'm influenced by the seasons. I think a winter holiday line is a little more put together, sleeker. I'm more "let loose" in the summer.

RC: Are there any styles or pieces that have carried over from the first collection and become a House of Harlow signature?
NR: The lockets and the cuffs.

RC: What do you think makes your line stand out from the other accessories?
NR: It's playful but chic. The best of both.

Diane Pernet

I'll let Frankie take it from here: "Miss Diane Pernet has Melissa Shoes by Vivienne Westwood on her blog today! Nothing major but what Diane says is cool... IS."

I couldn't agree more.

City Short

Despite its difficult entry into the 21st century, the city that never sleeps has regrouped, found its rhythm and hit back with a rather different design agenda. Once driven by excess, New York has entered an era of austerity, yet thanks to a greater appreciation of quality over quantity, the city has never felt more compelling. Here Richard Christiansan of Chandelier Creative describes his perfect day in the city.
